On the City Sidewalk

Next to the house of our neighbors half way down the street there is a city sidewalk that connects our street with the next street up in a place where you would expect there to be a street, but there isn’t.  This sidewalk is affectionately known in our neighborhood as “The City Sidewalk.”  Technically, I guess all sidewalks are property of the city, but this is such a weird sidewalk that culminates in a long concrete stairway that it deserves a special title.  After all, it’s in a place where a sidewalk wouldn’t normally run, right in between a set of houses.

Since the sidewalk zips right next to our neighbor’s yard, one recent evening the kidlets were hanging out on the concrete steps, practicing their banister sliding as the sun set.
