Sunday Mornings

For the last several months I’ve made a habit of playing hymn arrangements for about 30 minutes before we leave for church on Sunday mornings.  I’ve made this a habit in the summer before, but never could I keep the habit going when school started and I started teaching Sunday School.  This year has been a little different because the kidlets are a bit older and can manage getting ready a little bit better.  In addition, I am only in charge of Sunday school music.  I travel to 3 preschool and kindergarten groups during the second service with my wagon full of instruments.  Coming up with Sunday school music is a lot less taxing for me than figuring out how I want to tell the Bible story, (which I love) and preparing a craft (which I don’t love)  and lesson centered play activities (which is fine, but takes a lot of time).

I am loving hymns before church.  I stay calmer in the frenzy of getting everyone out the door and I feel like no matter what happens for the rest of the morning I’ve already had a special time of worship.
