Snazzy

There’s a contingency of seven and eight year old boys at our church who love to wear suits.  It totally cracks me up, because if their parents told them to dress up and wear a suit, they never would, but instead they’ve all taken it upon themselves to look exceedingly sharp every Sunday morning.

Mr. TOF has been begging for a suit for more than a year and a half.  I kept saying I’d look at garage sales and thrift stores, but I never did manage to run across something that looks like a suit.  At Mr. TOF’s school concert I took some photos and he painstakingly pointed out  every single person wearing a suit on the risers.  He’s even been praying for a suit.

So, when my parents gave him a gift card for Christmas this year, it was time to get a suit.  Dr. Peds made a stealthy Christmas Eve shopping strip and surprised him with a full out fit (even shoes and a tie!) right before they headed to Christmas Eve service.  Let me tell you, I’ve probably never seen a happier guy in a suit.  He was so incredibly excited.  When we got home and I asked to take a photograph, he even burst out into a snazzy little dance.

He got up Christmas morning and put on his suit even though we weren’t going anywhere.

Here are some statements I’ve heard him say:

  • (Before getting the suit):  I really need a suit for concerts, church, and to be prepared in case I have to go to a funeral.  (Hopefully it isn’t yours?!?)
  • I argue much better in a suit.
  • Can I FaceTime Grandma Kathy in my suit? (We had already facetimed Grandma Robbie).
  • These secret pockets allow me to be sneaky!

He plans on wearing the suit EVERY Sunday. And for any even applicable occasion in between. Between the Bentleyville hat and the suit, he’s had pretty much the best Christmas ever.
