Wednesdays with the Cat

On Wednesdays I do not have students.  My after school hours are reserved for driving kidlets to their oboe and violin lessons and making sure people get to their Wednesday night church activities.  During the first semester of the school year I had cello lessons on Wednesday mornings, but in the second semester of the year my cello lessons are on Tuesday mornings, which leave Wednesdays wide open.  People leave for school.  Dr. Peds either sleeps in or leaves for work, and my Wednesdays are spent with the cat.

It’s great.  I cannot even tell you how much I love Wednesdays.  The house is quiet.  I cook for myself only.  I catch up on a bunch of work at my computer.  I go for a walk (today was cold and I was lazy so I skipped the walk, but I do usually enjoy my Wednesday walk).  I fold laundry and listen to music or a podcast . . . whatever I want.  I LOVE being in charge of my own multiple hour schedule.  I think that’s why I loved college so much!  Even though I worked hard in college, really hard, I got to decide how to do my work and when to do it.

Last Wednesday I even took a nap.  A glorious nap.  I hadn’t slept so well in ages.

The cat does not infringe on my schedule.  He wanders from here to there, finding a sunny spot to curl up.  A kidlet of one sort or another has made sure he is well fed for the day.  It’s too cold for the cat to want to go outside, so he just basks in the boredom of winter, and let’s me do whatever I want.
