In the Front Yard
He’s out in the front yard every chance he can get. Last year he completely wore out the grass on the north side of the front yard because he spends hours pretending to play soccer and baseball games out there. The grass was literally shredded down to the dirt. This year he has set up camp on the other side of the lawn. He cares so much about his playing field conditions that he actually raked the front yard himself the “conditions are better.”
“Why don’t you play on the other side of the yard, where the grass is already worn out?” I suggested.
He gestured to the huge muddy patch on the north side of the lawn. “I’m giving that side a break, mom, and when this side is worn out I’ll move back over there.”
A decade from now we will probably have to invest in a large supply of grass seed, I think. It’s probably pointless to do anything in the meantime.
