Dull

One teenage kidlet tells me that my blog is getting more boring by the day because there aren’t fun little people around the house anymore, and well, my life (while sometimes slightly more peaceful in the middle of the day) is just pretty boring.  Another teenage kidlet tells me that I need more pictures of the cat on the blog.

So, here’s a picture of the cat.

I’ll continue to blog even though my blog may be boring.  You see, although I’m always happy that people stop by and read, I would have stopped blogging long ago if I was blogging to entertain people.  I really, selfishly, blog for myself.  For some reason, writing a blog post motivates me to  . . . well . . . write.  And take pictures.  I love documenting what happens, even if it is terribly dull.  I love being able to look back on a huge swath of my family’s life documented here.  I like organizing my thoughts, if even for just a few minutes a day.

Blogging is definitely my favorite social media outlet, and it always will be (although if I had to pick a second favorite, it would be instagram because at least it’s beautiful!)   I like using words to tell stories, and the stories I want to tell are often longer or more detailed than what works with an instagram post.  Plus, I’m a control freak, and I have more control over my blog.

Sometimes it makes me sad that people have abandoned their blogs for instragram, maybe Facebook, or podcasting.  I love reading blogs and seeing other people document their lives too.  It’s probably the English teacher in me, but I believe you can tell a lot about a person by how they write and what they write about.

Even if blogging is a dying art, I will not be abandoning it.
