Gardner in Residence
Mr. Trouble on Feet had a tiny garden patch in a corner of our neighbor’s vegetable garden again this summer. All throughout the growing season he has been conversing with our neighbor (and also his viola teacher, who has a big garden as well) about how the vegetable are growing. He was super excited to plant potatoes, carrots, basil, and lettuce this year.
Every few days Mr. Trouble on Feet would dash across the yard to the garden to check to see how things were growing and then bring back a report of the status of all the plants.
We ate some delicious salads midsummer, and in the past few weeks he has harvested some carrots and several varieties of potatoes: red, fingerling and purple. Everything has been tasting delicious. There’s nothing like freshly picked vegetables! Plus, I think everything tastes a little better when you have grown it yourself. I love that our neighbors are so patient with him and enjoy talking with him so much, and I love that Mr. Trouble on Feet will probably have the gardening bug for most of his life because of the neat experiences he has had as a kid.
