The Banana: Fourteen
The Banana’s birthday was a busy day of teaching, distance learning, homeschool, youth group, and other craziness, but we still carved out time to do a little celebrating. (Even though it’s Covid time, there was STILL a lot going on during this birthday!)
Breakfast in the Bathtub was Nutella on rye bread with raspberries. We tried to Facetime YaYa in from college, but had technological difficulties, so she zoomed into present opening after breakfast instead.
The Banana spent time with a good friend during the afternoon, and had some entertaining Facetime calls with a couple of other good friends. One even zipped over with a helium balloon after Mr. TOF accidentally popped her birthday balloon while poking it with an envelope. Balloons are an important part of the birthday atmosphere for The Banana, so it was pretty special that her friend brought her another one.
Lunch was pasta salad and fruit, and Dr. Peds made orzo with broccoli for supper.
The Banana had been asking for a special cake baked by one of my friends for months, and was so excited when she said yes to baking the birthday cake. In the afternoon my friend dropped off a rich, chocolate zucchini bundt cake with the best frosting ever. It was so amazing. We had cake after The Banana arrived back home from youth group.
Since The Banana was ahead on her distance learning assignments, she elected for a “no school” birthday for herself, even though it was a school day. That’s pretty fun! It will likely be the only time that will ever happen in her academic life.
