Some Things I’m Loving

  • I am loving extra hours of daylight! I love that it is light in the morning. Even more, I love that it is light in the evening!
  • In the spirit of evenings with daylight, I have been enjoying lots of evening walks. Evening is my favorite time for walking, and I appreciate the opportunity get outside while it is still light after I am done teaching.
  • In the past month I have splurged not once but twice on purple tulips at the grocery store! The first time was for Easter, and the second was just because I enjoyed the first batch of tulips so much. Tulips are one of my very favorite flowers.
  • I’ve been reading a lot of poetry, and I have used so many book darts to mark my favorite poems that I had to order two new tins. Interestingly, The Devious Snail saw me open the package and squirreled one tin away. Apparently he really likes book darts as well. It shouldn’t have surprised me.
  • On the sunny but still somewhat chilly days we have been having, I have been loving nestling on the deck next to the chalkboard. The sun bakes the black chalkboard and the heat just radiates and feels so very good on a forty degree day. Warm from the sun is just a different kind of warm! It is so relaxing.
  • Dr. Peds ordered a little kit from a local restaurant to make Cardamon French toast. It came with a perfect lingonberry sauce (not too sweet, and punchy!). The combination of cardamon and lingonberry makes me drool just thinking about how devious it is.
  • In the past couple of weeks I have baked flax bread and pumpkin pecan bread, recipes that were given to me long ago by dear friends. I used to make both of them often, but for some reason in the past few years I kind of forgot to make them. I also forgot how much I enjoy both kinds of bread!
  • I have been loving celebrating National Poetry month this April! This year might be my favorite poetry month ever! More about that soon . . .
  • I have been greatly appreciating a good romp through the forest these past few weeks. The trails have been a bit mucky, but that just makes things extra interesting. I’m so happy to have ground to walk on that is not covered in snow and ice.
