Whippersnapper Snippersnappers

Whippersnappers

Tomorrow is Grandma's Marathon, which means that today was the annual Whippersnapper (usually referred to as Snippersnapper around here) race.  Mr. Sneaky Pants has been waiting one full year to participate in this race.  He was hooked after our runner friends, the Penns, visited during the last marathon.  He was dressed and ready to go in running shorts, a comfy T-shirt, and his super duper fast soccer cleats.

Because I had to drop off Sarah at Nature Camp this afternoon, and Mr. SP and Dr. Peds were going to travel to some other special activities after the race, they drove down separately.  I followed about 20 minutes behind them because of the dropping off business, and missed the last convenient parking spot by 5 seconds.  I kid you not.  I saw the car pull into the spot.   Then I spent the next FIFTY FIVE minutes finding a parking spot.  You wouldn't even believe the traffic down there, made all the worse because of some parking lots that were under construction this year.

The Banana actually napped while I drove through insane traffic, until I finally found a parking spot next to the library, across the freeway.  I carried her on my back and we zipped down there as fast as I could on foot, but unfortunately, we'd already missed her heat of preschool girls runners.  Thankfully, she's only two, and didn't realize that.  We just  pinned her number on and had her run across the grassy field from the opposite direction toward the back of the finish line, and she thought she was the greatest runner ever when she got her participation ribbon.  Her favorite part was getting a goodie bag with a granola bar and peanuts in it, and a magnificent bottle of water.

Mr. Sneaky Pants ran an amazing and fast race, and loved every second of it.  He was so excited.
