It’s Summer!

It’s summer! It has been a strange beginning to summer this year because we had really warm weather really early, and it actually felt weird to still have kidlets bogged down with school when the temperatures were HOT (so hot it felt miserable). But, this week is the first week of official summer!

This summer I’m trying to become even more of a morning practicer. For many years evening and late night was a productive practice time for me, but over the past couple of years my kidlets have taken to leaving their own practicing for evening, and then all doing their practicing at relatively the same time. It makes our house sound like a music camp. Because some people need help doing their practicing (they depend on piano accompaniment) I’m exhausted by the time I am supposed to start doing my own practicing. During the school year I discovered that even though it was painful to keep getting up really early when I didn’t have to, things went more smoothly if I could get my cello practicing done BEFORE I started teaching and helping Mr. TOF with homeschool. This summer my goal is to try to get both a good cello and piano practice in right away in the morning.

I’m also trying to have a good attitude about all the driving around I’m going to be doing taking kidlets from here to there all summer. Ufff. I’m out of practice.
