Donuts! Cousin Alex was visiting and made it into the bathtub for the breakfast celebration.
Even with a cousin added in, the bathtub felt a little empty, so Cardboard Sarah joined us.
As soon as the grocery store opened, The Banana and I were there picking up the donuts and getting a few celebration supplies including a birthday balloon, and, well, a large pink flamingo balloon that The Banana was certain would make the day more special. She was also pretty confident that her little brother would regift the pink flamingo balloon her way at the end of the day. It was a prophesy that came true.
After a quick present opening, I drove the big kids to rowing while Mr. TOF and Cousin Alex read books all morning. We picked the big kids up from rowing and headed to our favorite pizza place, but since we were a little early, we walked around Canal Park for a little bit while we waited for them to open up. Lunch was pizza and soda (the soda was allowed since it was a birthday, of course).
For dessert we walked to the new second location of our favorite ice cream place and had delicious waffle cones. The Banana’s cone fell apart, but she managed to only spill on the sidewalk and not on herself, and she got most of the ice cream in her mouth. My cone did not fall apart, but I managed to spill both pizza AND ice cream all over my shirt. Sigh. I have some issues managing to eat ice cream cones. I think I need to start wearing a big terry cloth bib or something! My mom made great bibs for the kidlets when they were babies out of towels with a hole at the top for their head. Maybe she can make me one out of a bath towel or something.
Our plan was to head to the sandy beach after lunch for some swimming, but it ended up being a blustery day, and there was a red flag beach warning, so Mr. TOF decided to swim at Lester Park instead. There was much jumping off rocks.
In the late afternoon Mr. TOF had baseball practice, which he was more than happy about. The big kids headed off to youth group, and I made baked pasta and peas for supper.
Dr. Peds made it home for a late night cake celebration. Grandma Robbie sent the special baseball cake back with us when we were visiting her over the weekend. Fancy!
