Crocus

Last fall I stuck one hundred crocus bulbs into the hill on the south side of the yard by the sidewalk using a spoon. My hand was tired by the end, but it was all worth it this spring when those brave little flowers poked up and brought a little joy to the weeks of clouds, rain, snow, sleet and general dreariness that made up most of our spring. I love that people noticed the crocuses when they stopped at the Little Library on the corner and made their way up the the front door for piano lessons.
