Dichotomy
Truly, one of the most pleasant sounds in my life is listening to The Banana practice her harp. I keep saying it, but wrong notes just don’t sound wrong on the harp. I know practically nothing about the harp so I’m never tempted to holler practice advice from two rooms away. Instead, I lounge around on a couch, consider eating grapes and pretend I’m an ancient queen being lulled to sleep. It is the most calm and soothing sound ever.
One of the worst sounds is the sound of a pedal harp string exploding. It happens at random and actually has been happening quite often this summer because many of the strings on our rental harp are a little old. With a pop and a bang a string will just snap, and the reverberation in the sound board lasts for like twenty seconds. The worst thing is that this brutal end to harp string is followed by two unpleasant things: an inability for The Banana to practice the harp until the string has been replaced, and the unfortunate expense of replacing the harp string. They are not cheap. The longer the string, the more expensive the string.
We replaced four strings last week, and now we are back in business. I can continue my life of luxury!
