2022 Sunday Night at the Beach: Edition 5
This may have been the most ridiculous Sunday Night at the Beach this summer! The Banana drove the van with Dr. Peds in the driver’s seat, and YaYa and I in the middle seats. (It is so strange to sit in the middle of the van!) We decided to go to a parking area past the main entrance for the rocky beach that connects to a trail which takes people to stretches of beach a little farther up than the ordinary beach accessible to vehicles, (which is actually closed this summer). The Banana missed the turn-off that we were thinking of, but it was no problem, because just a little up the road was a different turn off. She parked the van, and we disembarked. We had never been to this particular parking place before, and the trail did not exactly lead where we thought it was going to. Instead, it was a steep, steep trail that began to descend down a moderate cliff.
We almost turned around and went back to the other parking area because I don’t have the greatest balance at this point in pregnancy, but I said, “I think I can just slide down on my bottom and it will be OK.” Dr. Peds commented that he was going to have to answer to my OB doctor if something went wrong and that wouldn’t be good. However, it pretty much worked, and I got down to where the trail ended. The rest of the way down involved climbing over big rocks, boulders, and things like that, so I just sat myself down in a comfy spot where I could see everyone and declared that was that.
It was a beautiful night. The sunlight was gorgeous. The water was silky. The cliff was dramatic.
YaYa went exploring and swimming.
The Banana spent quite a bit of time wandering around the rock with her arms tucked into her pants pretending to be a pigeon by wobbling her neck profusely. What can I say? Every Sunday Night at the Beach is a little different from the next. She also eventually went swimming.
Then Dr. Peds started throwing their sandals into the Lake and they had to keep getting into the cold water to retrieve them, so there was a bit of pandemonium.
When it began to get dark we climbed back up the cliff to the car. Going up was easier than going down, which I knew would be the case. Still, it was quite a sight, I’m afraid. But I didn’t fall, and soon we were heading back home after a little trip to get some treats at the grocery store on the way.
