The Jack and Annie Backpack

Mr. Sneaky Pants loves the Magic Treehouse book series.  He is seriously obsessed with it.  I cannot wait for the day when he can read and reread the books himself, (I don’t find them the most exciting thing to read out loud) but for now, reading a chapter of a Magic Treehouse book out loud serves as great motivation for him to read sounding out books.  He reads a book.  I read a chapter.  He reads a book.  I read a chapter.  It goes on and on.  If I need him to hurry and get ready for school in the morning, I promise to read a chapter from the current Magic Treehouse Book.

Mr. Sneaky Pants loves the adventures that Jack and Annie experience, and he especially likes how Jack carries around a backpack with a notebook inside.  He decided to bring his own notebook on our walk the other night.  Unfortunately we didn’t end up stopping to do very much writing in the notebook because the walk was fraught with great drama (see the last post).  We’ll be better about that next time.  I think it’s great that something is motivating him to use a pencil.

And that knight costume?  Two years ago when I bought it for Halloween, I knew he’d get a kick out of it.  I didn’t expect him to actually wear it part of every single day.  What will we do when it doesn’t fit anymore?
