The Devious Snail celebrated a birthday on Thanksgiving Day. We started the day out with nine siblings and cousins in the bathtub for a breakfast of bagels with cream cheese. It was standing room only!
Because it was so crowded in the bathtub, most people headed downstairs to the dining room to finish off their bagels, and then the Devious Snail opened his gifts, which included a snazzy, gold, sequin bedecked captains hat for him to wear at robotics competitions, since he’s one of the robotics captains, as well as a gigantic soft pink alligator. The Devious Snail was the only one of our kidlets so far to have an imaginary friend, Pink Alligator, who lived in the back of the van. Upon opening the stuffed pink alligator, the Devious Snail promptly looked at YaYa and said, “See! I told you he was real!”
The Devious Snail headed upstairs until a lunch of calzones and fruit was ready.
After all the Thanksgiving festivities and food, (we had an evening Thanksgiving feast so that Dr. Peds could join us after work) and after throwing the kidlets outside to burn off some energy, we closed out the evening with some birthday pie. In addition to the many choices of Thanksgiving pie, the Devious Snail had requested his favorite Rustic Inn pie, Lemon Angel.
The crazy birthday song, sung as unmelodically as possible as per family tradition, went on and on and on with so many people singing. It was marvelous! Such emotion! Such expression! Such drama! The cables were quite short by the time he finally blew them out.
