Fire and Water

I had a horrible night’s sleep last night because of a number of factors, and due to my cold, I lost my voice.  The two worked together to cause me to be a viciously grumpy (yet not too loud) person today.  This evening, however, the whole family bundled up in our rain gear and went down to the rocky beach.  A storm is just starting, with high winds from the east, and that means big waves.  The waves were just starting to get big tonight, and I can’t wait to go back in the morning when I take The Banana to preschool to see them even bigger and in daylight.  The street lights were already on when we left for the beach, so it was really quite dark tonight, but here’s an “in the dark” picture of the waves with a slow shutter speed.  I was trying to manually focus because the camera couldn’t do it since it was so dark, but I couldn’t really see anything either.  The lights in the background are a large ship out in open water.

YaYa and I had a wonderful time watching the waves crashing onto the rocks in the dark.  I just love, love LOVE waves.

Squirmy was bundled up in his car seat and watched the fire.  It was riveting.

Dr. Peds cooked the kidlets hamburgers and smores in the old stone fire shelter.  (It’s such a neat little building).  The kidlets went nuts from all the sugar in the marshmallows, and then we brought them home.  It was a noisy car ride, and I was very thankful that I needed to run some library materials to the book drop and got out of supervising showers and bedtime.
