Last Saturday’s Pancakes

Last Saturday Dr. Peds made pancakes for breakfast, which really took place around the time of brunch.  The kidlets love pancakes, with goopy, sticky syrup.  The Banana helped in the kitchen and requested “plain puffy pancakes.”  Our plain puffy pancakes are whole wheat buttermilk pancakes.  Our flat  pancakes are Swedish pancakes.  Swedish pancakes are amazing, but sometimes the kidlets request plain puffy pancakes because I tend to sparsely regulate syrup over Swedish pancakes.  Sometimes I substitute applesauce, which they believe is cheating.  Pancake mornings are exciting.

This morning Mr. SP was hungry, and when I asked him what he’d like for breakfast he said “Pumpkin muffins.”  I said that would be fine but that he’d have to wait for them to cook.  Mr. SP hates waiting for breakfast to cook (or any meal, really) so he opted for granola and yogurt instead.  I made three bowls of yogurt and granola.  Ya Ya came down the stairs and stomped her feet and yelled, “Why are we having THAT for breakfast?  THAT is a quick and EASY breakfast!  THAT is a school breakfast!”  I mentioned that Mr. SP had requested granola and yogurt.  ” WHY did he pick THAT!  Well, I don’t want any!”  And she thumped back up the stairs.  It wasn’t a big problem, though, because Mr. SP just ate her breakfast after he ate his breakfast.
