About Eyeballs and Snow

I bribed YaYa with a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin into letting me take a picture of her eyeball last week.

Eyeballs are just so interesting.  In the eighth grade I got to dissect a cow eyeball, and I still think the interior of the eyeball was one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen, with all of its shimmering colors.  In second grade YaYa also got to slice open a cow eyeball when her class was learning about all the different parts of the eyeball and their functions, and she agreed that it was amazingly beautiful.

We received 10 inches of snow yesterday, wet heavy snow that sticks to everything, and that is beautiful too.  It covers the tree branches and bushes  in our yard, down the streets and in the forest, cloaking them in majesty that is sweet, silent and so pure.  I’m glad I love snow, because it would be so difficult to have a bad attitude about all the messiness and bundling up it causes me these days.  I’m glad I can enjoy the brilliance of the light reflected off the whiter than white snow and the swirling, dancing flakes that zig zag through the air sideways.

The kidlets were out playing in the snow today, sledding down our front yard. Mr. SP built a small snowman with some help from Dr. Peds, and then migrated over to our next door neighbors’ yard where they were building a snow sculpture of an elephant seal.  I had to leave for choir rehearsal before the elephant seal was finished, so I’m excited to see what it looks like when the sun rises in the morning.

Thank you Ya Ya for sharing your eye with us. It is a beautiful eye. Your eye has such great detail. You and your Mom has been so blessed to be able to dissect a cow eye. I use to examine my cows, sheep, cat, and dogs eyes when I was up close to them, but never got to see the interior of the eye before.
