Lone Star Tulip

Redtulip

This single, red tulip appeared suddenly last week in a flower bed in my yard.  I was delightfully surprised.  Tulips are my very favorite flower ever.  I haven't gotten around to planting any yet, and to be truthful, I'm not sure it would even be worth it given the large herd of deer that visit my "in the middle of town" every night.  Strangely enough, the deer haven't touched my single red tulip.  It makes me happy when I look out the window and see it.

Speaking of flowers, I got the planting bug yesterday.  Dr. Peds was working, so I loaded up the kidlets and we went to four different garden centers to choose flowers and vegetable seeds for our container gardens.  Each kidlet gets to pick their own flowers for their own special flower pot.  Mr. SP choose snap dragons again this year; he really likes how they have mouths.  Sarah choose orange and red marigolds.  The Banana choose a package of PINK petunias.  She was all about having her own pink flowers.

At the garden centers we roamed around, selecting plants, and all three kidlets had the insatiable urge to touch every breakable flowerpot in sight.   I was so fried by the time we got back home, that I gave them each a banana and a glass of milk, and told Dr. Peds, home and on call, that he was in charge of pajamas and tucking in for the evening.  I went outside and planted and mixed dirt with my freshly harvested worm compost, basking in the cool evening air wearing my comfy no frills grey sweatshirt with the hood pulled up (great mosquito prevention).  It was lovely.  You can see a picture here.  Dr. Peds said I looked downright creepy, but I actually like the picture.
