The Banana: Seventeen
The Banana is seventeen! We had an exchange student from Germany staying with us for a few weeks at the beginning of the school year, and she joined in the celebration festivities. Breakfast in the bathtub is already a bit unusual, but it is extra crazy at 5:00 a.m, which is when he needed to celebrate because The Banana was off to an early morning swim practice at 6:00 a.m. Luckily our exchange student was very flexible and up for any kind of adventure. The breakfast menu was nutella on rye bread, with raspberries on the side.
The Banana likes to open her gifts right away in the morning, so after breakfast we headed downstairs. Among her presents was a steering wheel cover for her car, which can also double as interesting headwear.
Once The Banana headed off to swim practice, Mr. TOF did some practicing before school, and both Peanut Maximus and our exchange student headed off for an early morning nap!
Since there was an important football game and dance after school, there was no afternoon swim practice, so I got to see The Banana for just a tiny bit after school before she and the exchange student headed off to the evening festivities. The exchange student was very excited about going to an American football game and experiencing a dance.
When all of that excitement finished at school, there was more excitement! The Banana brought friends home to celebrate with a watermelon cake. Literally, she wanted me to cut a watermelon in the shape of a cake and stick fruit on it. OK? I assembled it while they were off at the dance. There was a tableful of friends from the swim team and a few exchange students giggling and laughing and having a great time. They ate all the watermelon and fruit, and some pretzels with Nutella on the side.

What wonderful birthday for Banana. Love the cake idea. Love the bathtub tradition goes on no mater who happens to be there.
