Camp Aunt Rachel: Session Three

Cousin Elizabeth only had a few days to spend at Camp Aunt Rachel before she had to be back for the start of her school, but we packed in as many things as we could in a very short bit of time. We made sure to get to the “roller coaster” and the candy store. After a very sweaty walk with the stroller on the lakewalk, Cousin Elizabeth went for a swim in the lake, and even I went in up to my waist! I was so, so over-warm! Peanut Maximus had the best time wading in the water too. We took another trip to the beach on Sunday night to look for seaglass, and the big waves made for excellent treasure searching. (More about that soon!) There was time to play in the mud kitchen in the backyard, and of course we read a few books. When Mr. TOF and The Banana arrived back from their rowing regatta, there were several board games played.

We took Peanut Maximus to Hartley to ride his bike, and found all sorts of things to explore, like a serendipitous swing in the forest, and we had to check out one of the stick forts. We played in the playscape and did some tree climbing. The pollinator garden was in its prime, and it was fun to walk through the super tall plants.

Cousin Elizabeth didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her bigger cousins who were at their final rowing regatta for the weekend, but Peanut Maximus has a very special bond with his cousin that is actually the closest in age to him, and he loved every bit of time he got to be with her! He’s still asking about “Lizzie” every day, and she’s been back home for school for almost two weeks!
