Spotted

Here are some interesting things I have glimpsed in the last couple of weeks:
- While driving on the freeway I spotted a man mowing grass a steep incline next to the highway with a remote control lawnmower. I had not ever seen a remote control lawnmower before.
- Peanut Maximus and I were walking in Hartley last week in the morning, and we came across the most adorable medium sized turtle hanging out in the middle of the trail. He stared at us. We stared at him, and eventually he poked his legs out and ambled off in to some tall grass. Peanut Maximus thought it was pretty great. I agreed.
- I was driving to do some errands with Peanut Maximus, and traffic was backed up and barely moving. It took forever just to go a few blocks to drop off a box at the UPS store. I wasn’t sure if it was just a bad time of day (we aren’t usually out and about at that time of day on that particular road, and it was a time when traffic is just heavier in general) but it turned out that there was a fender bender accident at a major intersection right by the place we were going. I had momentarily forgotten how preschoolers see the ordinary with fresh and amazing eyes, and getting to see three police cars, an ambulance and two firetrucks all parked together and flashing their lights was very exciting. (It didn’t look like anyone was injured, but they were working hard to clean things up and get traffic flowing again). We went into the store and came out, and as we were walking in the parking lot, one of the firetrucks drove through the parking lot next to us, and the firefighters gave Peanut Maximus a big wave. It was all he could talk about for hours.
- We have had some amazing sunsets the last few days, and last week I got to see an amazing sunrise over the Lake as I drove Mr. TOF to school.
