Afternoon Hiking

Hikerhannah

The Banana, Mr. Sneaky Pants and I went on an early afternoon hike to Lookout Point.  We tromped through the mud, up and down hills and through spooky forests, where we kept an eye out for vicious dragons.  Everyone had to find just the exact right stick to carry in case we came across any dragons.  Mr. Sneaky Pants' stick was shaped like a battle ax.  He used it to chop into some fallen tree roots that did actually resemble a dragon head with a large eye.

We rode imaginary horses through the forests and pretended we were climbing mountains to look for giants with long hair, like the heros in the very popular chapter book Ingraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke.  (I've read that whole chapter book out loud to them TWICE, and then we got the audio book from the library and listened to it daily for weeks on end.  Mr. Sneaky Pants can recite actual paragraphs and huge dialogs between the characters).

We tried to spy our house from lookout point, but I'm not sure we actually found it.  It was a fun view of the neighborhood, and a fun trek to get there this spring, because both of those kidlets walked the whole way themselves!  I didn't have to wear anyone on my back.

We visited the stick fort that gets bigger every year.  People add pieces on bit by bit each summer.  Mr. Sneaky Pants decided it was a dragon cove, and that it was so muddy because the dragon is a very messy guy.

Treefort

On our way back to the car, we stopped by our favorite tree in the city next to the nature center and did a bit of climbing.  The tree has multiple huge trunks that come out of the ground at all sorts of angles, and is perfect for climbing.

The Banana didn't quite get as high as her big brother, but she tried.
