We are 2/3 the way through all of the Christmas concerts and rehearsals for the month. Mr. TOF has one big concert left, Peanut Maximus has the church Christmas Program (that I’m in charge of) and my students are playing at an assisted living center next Monday. Our calendar has been filled with rehearsals and performances these past few weeks, but no one has gotten sick yet, and everything has gone smoothly!
We are currently awaiting the return of the college students at the end of the week! The Banana won’t be home for long because she leaves after Christmas for a training trip with her college swim team, but we are so excited to see her for a few days, and hoping that the Devious Snail will be here even longer than she is able to be.
Mr. TOF is looking forward to some Christmas cookies he has requested that I bake in the next few days.
The weather is a roller coaster: subzero, almost above freezing, and back and forth, up and down.
Our Christmas trees are already up, and that’s a whole week ahead of what we’ve managed for the last four years, so I feel pretty good about that. The main tree just has lights and yarn garland right now, because Mr. TOF decided that The Banana needed to be home to help put the ornaments on.
Mr. TOF has begun his swim season, and he’s getting faster all the time. He also feels he’s at the pool ALL the time. It’s fun to hear him call The Banana on the phone to have swimming conversations.
I have two things on my Christmas list this year: 1. poems written by my family in my Christmas stocking (I started asking for this two years ago, and it makes me so, so happy on Christmas morning) and 2. Book week: where my big kids watch Peanut Maximus for an extra hour or two after his afternoon nap, which means that I get FOUR hours to read by myself every day during Christmas break. Glorious! I am really hoping they pull through for me!
I am loving pomegranate season. Could there be a fruit that tastes more nutritious? I think not.
I’m dreading a necessary trip to the post office that will take place this afternoon or maybe Friday. . . Hopefully this afternoon, because I’d like to be finished dreading it.
Peanut Maximus built a snowman in the front yard with his babysitter yesterday, and I love seeing it out the window so much. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve had snowmen in the yard, and I love them!
