Scenes from Visiting the Great Grandmothers

Here are some images I loved from a visit with Grandma Jan right before we left Pettibone.  The kidlets warmed up to the idea of a wheelchair ride, and The Banana had a lot of fun playing with that lovely PINK flashlight.  Mr. Sneaky Pants took a liking to Grandma Jan's picking-up-things-pincher.  He carried it everywhere and tried to pick up everything.  At one point the picking-up-things-pincher had to have a rest on top of the refrigerator because it was just getting a little crazy.  Dr. Peds liked using it too, and between the two of them pinching my throat, I was at the end of my patience.  The five of us had a really fun visit.

Here are a couple of images from the same day when we stopped to visit Great Grandma Edna, who is recouperating from a broken hip in the nursing home.  She slipped on some ice this winter.  By the time we got to the nursing home, the notion of wheelchair rides was old hat for the kidlets.  They were buzzing all over Great Grandma's little room.  Sarah and Mr. SP liked to sit inside while The Banana pushed. I tried to strategically place myself in various locations to avoid any crashes into furniture and walls.   Needless to say, it was pretty wild, so periodically, Dr. Peds would take all three down to the common room to watch the birds in the aviary.  It was a short, exciting and energetic visit we had with Great Grandma.  I think we definitely livened things up for her.

You are so blessed to have family/relatives to visit and enjoy! What a great experience for your children, not every kid grows up knowing and loving extended family. Families are special (although I like the quote I’ve seen that say families are like fudge, mostly sweet with a few nuts!).
