What’s One More Load of Laundry???

We weren't able to visit our friends from up the hill this afternoon (we rescheduled our play date for Friday afternoon).  To distract Mr. Sneaky Pants from the fact that we weren't going to play with our buddies, he and I discussed the "river" in the street that was running downhill past our house.  It was a beautiful day outside:  33 degrees, and some snow was just starting to melt.

After Sarah got home from school, I suggested we go outside and play.  It was taking some convincing to get the troup out of doors, so when Mr. Sneaky Pants suggested we stomp in the puddle on the corner, I said, "SURE!"  That got them out the door in a hurry.

Within three minutes, they were not only stomping in the puddle, they were swimming in it.  They sat in the mucky water, rolled in it, took running jumps into it, and decided to lie on their backs in the puddle to do some cloud gazing.  It was wild.  And wet.  They were soaked to the bone, of course, but that didn't stop the fun.

After about a half hour they came in and jumped in the bathtub together for more (and cleaner) swimming.  That was wild too.  The bathroom floor was swamped by the time I extracted each little person, gave the eldest a haircut, and sent them downstairs to eat before Wednesday night activities at church.
