Saturday Morning Mess

Saturdaymorningmess

Just in case you didn't recognize it, this happens to be a pickup truck.  That's right, a pickup truck.  The table covered with the plaid blanket is the cab of the truck.  The baskets strewn about make up the walls of the pickup bed in the back of the truck.

Dr. Peds and I have started a tradition of sleeping in on Saturday mornings.  We leave out some bananas, and give Sarah permission to pour a glass of milk for each kidlet in the morning.  When they wake up at the crack of dawn we send them downstairs, where they snack on bananas and milk, play Kidpix or Starfall on the computer, and then play together DOWNSTAIRS, where we can't really hear them except when they barge into our room begging for their real breakfast, an occurance that seems to happen at regular 30 minute intervals, usually exactly when I've gotten back to sleep.

While there is a lot of whining and crying and quarreling involved, I really appreciate being able to lounge around lazily in my bed.  I have hopes they might learn to play together with less adult interaction.  And, cooperation does take place on some level, as evidenced by the creation pictured above (which stayed intact until late afternoon when I just couldn't handle it anymore)  even if that cooperation is really the biggest sister ordering around her minions.
