Scenes from the Cabin: All about the Leeches

In the fourteen years or so that Dr. Peds and I have been going to the cabin, we haven’t really encountered leeches in the lake before.  Usually all the fish right around the dock eat them up and the kidlets can swim worry-free.  This year, however, each of the big kidlets ended up with at least one leech.  I am proud to report, though, that there was no hysteria about any of the leech incidents like there was when Mr. SP found a gigantic leech on his foot after wading in a creek last June.  This time the leeches were just nervously pulled off, and the kidlets were immediately back to swimming.  There was far, far too much fun to be had in the water to be concerned about leeches.

The Banana was the most worried about getting a leech, but when it happened, she just zoomed right over to Dr. Peds and grandma, and she might have even pulled it off her foot herself.
