Scenes from the Cabin: The Summo Skirt

“You put it on like a dress, and then you hold onto the boat rope and you swallow a lot of water,”  one of my nieces explained, when the summo skirt was first inflated.  There were a couple of times that the summo skirt was actually used in the water, pulled behind a jetski, but when most of us saw just how much water the wearer of the summo skirt had to drink in the process of getting up out of the water at breakneck speeds, the opportunity to use the summo skirt in its intended fashion was generally slighted over.  Instead, the summo skirt was a lot of fun to float in around the dock, and especially to wear on land, where you could run full tilt and crash into whatever your heart desired at full bore.  There was summo skirt dancing.  Even Squirmy got in on the summo skirt action one afternoon.  Out of the water, the summo skirt was surprisingly HEAVY to wear, and delightful to bumble around in.
