First Day

No one missed the bus!  In fact, both kidlets were amazingly easy to rise out of their slumber.  They were dressed and ready to go right on schedule.  We packed the lunches, packed the snack, and had everything organized and ready to go in time to be down at the bus stop with the perfect amount of waiting time before that big yellow giant climbed up the hill to our stop.

The Banana was not sad to see them go.  The minute I got back to the house, where Dr. Peds stayed with Squirmy and The Banana, she gleefully bounced up and down singing, “Yay!  Yay!  It’s a great day!  What are we going to do special?”  We invited one of her friends over for a playdate, and both of the “little sisters” relished playing together and eating pancakes without any of their big siblings around.  They were busy and immersed in all sorts of fun pretending.  In the afternoon The Banana and I read books together and enjoyed a bit of peace and quiet without ANY squabbling.

When the big kidlets zoomed on the bus they had lots to say about their new teachers, the new principal, some new rules, and all sorts of things.  There was no homework on the first day of school, so when Dr. Peds got back from running some errands we got some ice cream and headed to the sandy beach with the paddleboard and enjoyed the perfect weather while we watched the big ships come into the canal.  Squirmy was the busiest he has ever been at the beach.  He was just zooming all over the place, in and out of the water and having the best time ever.  The Banana and Dr. Peds paddled over to get an up close look at the big boats out in the water, which was pretty neat.

We threw some sandwiches at them in the car, drove home, cleaned up, read books, practiced piano and they were off to bed.  It was a good first day.
