Pattison State Park Part 3: Mud
The lake at Pattison State Park was in the process of being drained down for the winter. (There is a dam at the top of the cascades before of the really tall waterfall starts). This meant that beyond the sandy beach next to the bathhouse, there was a large swath of mud of varying squishiness. After we had eaten and played, the sun was setting and the kidlets asked if they could play in the water, which of course meant wading through the mud to get to the water, and it turned out that the mud was actually more exciting than the water anyway. They tromped. They squished. They had a wonderful time, and then Dr. Peds took YaYa to the bathroom, and then The Banana fell right in the mud, which was a bit dramatic because she was very concerned about contracting a leach and that her pink clothes would not be able to be washed adequately.
YaYa came to the rescue when she got back from the bathroom and helped The Banana rinse most of the mud off in the lake, and then we stripped people down to their underwear, drove them home and plunked them in the shower.
