The Costumes

Two owls, a frog and a swamp monster.  Someone from music class actually came up with the idea of taking them to the forest for a few pictures.

Seeing Mr. Trouble on Two Feet in that frog costume seriously fills me to bursting with love for him.  The frog costume was one that Mr. SP wore for his first Halloween, and Mr. Trouble on Two Feet completely rocks it.  He LOVES wearing the costume, and he has this special little shuffle march way of walking that he only does when he’s wearing the costume, just to be silly I think.  It is completely adorable.  Plus he’s fuzzy!  I just can’t help but to squeeze the kid.

We bought The Banana’s owl hat at the Bayfield Apple Festival a few weeks ago.  I actually bought it for Mr. Trouble on Two Feet, but The Banana came up with the idea of using it for Halloween and being an owl.  There was a grown up sized owl hat that matched this and fit my small head perfectly (OK, so it really said ages 6-12 on the hat, but I’m a grown up, so we’re calling it grown up sized).  I really wanted to get that hat for myself, but the lady selling the hats only accepted cash, and I didn’t have enough cash!  Anyway, we found a tutorial on the computer about making an owl costume out of an old T-shirt and scraps of material, and off to the sewing machine I went.  We went shopping at the thrift store for old pillowcases to cut up for the feathers.  When the bird-loving YaYa found out The Banana was going to be an owl, she was angry because she is the one who likes birds and she didn’t think that The Banana should be the one who got to be an owl.  We worked through that and decided they could both be an owl.  She picked out her own pillowcases at the thrift store and I did more sloppy sewing.   YaYa made a mask to go with her costume but it’s not showing on the pictures.

And then the swamp monster.  Mr. SP wanted something that glided and had seaweed on it.  I cut a hole in a big piece of fleece and sewed strips of green sheets to it.  The monster hat we bought at the apple festival worked perfectly for his head.  Unfortunately that black hat got lost at school today during the parade, and so after a significant amount of drama, he ended up wearing Mr. Trouble on Feet’s blue hat for the pictures this afternoon.  (It’s a good thing I bought that toddler a lot of cute hats!)

The Banana and Mr. SP decided that it would be silly if they turned the owl hat backwards for a couple of pictures since owls can turn their heads all the way around.

All the costumes are fantastic, but I am in love with the owl costumes!! Hopefully Owen will like owls and want to be one at some future Halloween!

GREAT JOB! The costumes are wonderful. Your getting to be a pro, and that they got to decide just what they wanted to be just added to all the fun. Love the idea of the the candy fairy.
