The Banana Rides Horse

The Banana and I have been enjoying some special just-the-two-of-us time this weekend while the others are visiting cousins at Grandma Kathy and Papa Richard’s lake cabin.  While this notion sounds calm and peaceful, it has actually been frought with lots of temper tantrums and unhappiness due to the impending arrival of two bottom teeth, which in their effort to break through into the last toothless ranges of my poor toddler’s gums, are creating a great deal of sleepless misery.  For both of us.

But there have been some excellent moments this weekend as well.  We played on the slide at a park.  We visited the rocky beach where she delighted in tossing rocks into the burbling waves, and I enjoyed basking on the warm sun drenched rocks with my toes out on the edge of the water so they waves would rustle over them every once in a while.  The weather has been delightful, and we’ve taken a couple of terrific stroller rides.  Or rather, she’s taken the stroller ride.  I’ve done the pushing.  We’ve read some books, and snuggled together.

Tonight after our stroller ride, even though she was nearly collapsing with tiredness, she obliged me by sitting  on Dr. Peds’ old rocking horse, which I carried out into the yard to take a few pictures.  RidingahorsedownstampLookontherockinghorsestampHannahrockinghorsebwstamp
Let me assure you that this cuteness makes up for all the temper tantrums for the day.  She’s a smart cookie, my little girl.  She knows just when to play the charm card!  When my friend Siri was here last weekend she introduced The Banana to ponytails, and we’ve been hooked ever since.  The Banana loves to scrounge around for pony tail ties and barrettes that really belong to her big sister, and insist that I attach them to her hair.  Then she signs,  “pretty, pretty.”
