Early Spring

The leaves on a very select few bushes in our yard are just considering budding out. I think it’s so interesting how the leaves of different plant species pop out in so many different hues: reds, yellows, greens, and all kinds of shades on the spectrum in between.

Our miniature field of day lillies are stretching taller every day too. I don’t dislike daylillies, and yet they aren’t my favorite flower either, but the previous owners of our house must have really liked them, because we have oodles of daylillies all over the place. Apparently they thrive well on our patch of sod, and they are incredibly low maintenance; the deer don’t even eat them. And right now, looking out the window at the hundreds of baby lillies under our crooked tree makes me very happy because they are the most vibrant shade of green around.
