In the Water

It was hot, and so we took a quick trip to the rocky beach yesterday.  Because it was hot, I brought along my underwater camera bag, and had fun really putting it to use.  We didn’t realize there was an east wind until we got to the beach, which meant that there were some nice waves rolling in, and that made taking pictures in the water QUITE interesting!  The kidlets all had life jackets, but I did not.  Although I never ventured into water above my waist, some of those waves came crashing in on me, and I was constantly getting knocked over and pulled around in the water!  I was NOT the picture of a graceful mermaid, and let me tell you, Dr. Peds, on the beach with Mr. Trouble on Feet, was highly entertained.  He laughed hysterically.

The water felt cold getting in, but once I was sufficiently submerged, it was just fine, and I actually really had a great time sloshing around.  I didn’t take many pictures under the water because I forgot to bring my life jacket and goggles, which I will definitely be bringing next time!

Looking through the camera lens in such wavy water was really disorienting, and part of the reason that I kept getting knocked over.  The perception in the camera was different than in real vision, and my view was limited through the lens, so I was constantly unprepared for big waves.  It would definitely be challenging for someone who has difficulty with motion sickness!  There were times when I felt really seasick.  Even when I was editing the images I felt a little sea sick.
