A Morning in the Forest

The look on the right image is exactly the look he gives me when he’s saying, “Mom!”  Meaning “Mom, get it together and do what I’m asking even though you can’t quite understand what it is I want or you don’t think it’s a good idea.”  In this case, it was in reference to “Mom, stop taking all these pictures and start hiking.  We’ve got places to go to.”  I love how he curls up his upper lip and wrinkles his nose for emphasis.

Last Wednesday was Walk to School Day, and the kids from our neighborhood and their grown ups met at the corner and all walked to school together.  We called it a walking bus, and it was a lot of fun!  After my comrade and I arrived back home with the stroller we had a little morning snack, and then I decided that I would make the most of every moment of the amazing weather thad day, so we headed off to a patch of maple forest on a hillside and had a wonderful time exploring and playing without any big kids complaining about hiking to drag us down!  We had a great morning together and Mr. Trouble on Feet was so worn out he fell asleep in the car on the way to the bread store to pick up some bread.  He perked right up when we parked the car, though.
