The Great Shoe Lover Discovers Wheels

A few days ago Sarah brought home the letter box from Kindergarten, which we promptly filled with various items that started with the letter “R” and sent back to school the next day. The box stays at school, so the various items, a rock, raisins, rotini noodles, a picture of a rainbow, a stuffed rabbit, and a roller skate, arrived back home safely inside the very worn out backpack. Today I finally convinced her to clean out the backpack because I refused to put the permission slip for the field trip next Friday into the chaos of that canvas bag. Somehow the roller skate ended up in the middle of the cabin room for the lovely Banana to discover later in the afternoon. And thrilled she was! What could be better than an overly large shoe with wheels! Luckily she was not actually successful at getting the skate over her foot, but she was very determined about trying. When she finally got exasperated enough to bring the skate to me for help, the cruel mother that I am, I grasped it in my hand and deposited it back outside with the outside toys. That did NOT go over well, and at that moment it was conveniently time for a long afternoon rest period for all toddlers in residence.
