Random Tidbits

  • For the first time in weeks we all are feeling better!  I’m so incredibly grateful!
  • Music class starts tomorrow, and I’m almost ready!  This is a miraculous feat, because I’m usually pulling stuff together at the last minute.  It is hard to feel prepared for the first class each session, but I’m almost there.  I just have to stuff a few folders and make sure I have all the music memorized.  Our theme for class this winter is “Silly Food Songs.”  I’m super excited to bring Mr. TOF, who loves to cook in his play kitchen.  He’s been waiting and waiting for music class to start again.
  • Speaking of the play kitchen, I was busy cooking in my real kitchen and helping the big kidlets get started on their homework last Monday night in between lessons.  So much was going on I wasn’t watching Mr. TOF carefully, and he decided to raid my cupboard to cook some real food of his own.  I heard an unusual noise in the direction of the play kitchen, and there he was with my best silver pot on his little stove, filled to the brim with real honest to goodness noodles that he’d emptied from two boxes he found in my cupboard.  “NOOOOOOOooooooooo!” I howled, mostly because they were perfectly good noodles that could be eaten, but even more so because I was pressed for time and I knew that this was going to be a clean up battle.  The big kidlets laughed hysterically at the situation.
  • The streets were messy this afternoon and on the way back home from YaYa’s oboe lesson I nearly got majorly stuck, but somehow didn’t.  I did, however, have to back my way back down two big hills.  It was a bit frazzling.  I’m not used to having trouble on the big hills because our old van had all-wheel drive.  Our new van doesn’t, but I still love the new van.  I’ll slide around in luxury, thank you very much.  I really, really love my heated seat.
  • Last night the washing machine drained into the laundry sink, and in the process the lint trap over the hose fell off and clogged the drain, causing the sink to flood the basement.  I was not happy.  In fact, I was quite grumpy.  OK, If I were a swearing person, I would have been cussing.  But I’m not.  So I stomped my feet really loud instead. It was such a big mess, especially since our basement is just majorly out of control right now.
  • My sister-in-law Dot called last night to tell me that Cousin Alex has a warrant out for me.  Apparently he heard a noise in the bushes outside his window, and said, “Auntie Rachel in those bushes.  I get a big gun and shoot her.”  His dad said that it wasn’t good to shoot people with big guns.  He replied that it was OK.  He’d go to the grocery store and get a little gun.  I howled in laughter, and have decided to stay clear of the bushes around Dot’s house, just to be safe.
