New Years Eve

I usually hate New Years, but I think I had the best New Year’s Eve of my life this year! Our friends from up the hill invited us to a kid friendly New Year’s Eve party at their home, along with several other young families. There was kid food, grown up food, and lots of space for kids to run, run, run. They played “Chase the Spot” under the disco ball, danced up a storm (The Banana is QUITE the dancer, we have discovered) slid down an indoor plastic slide over, and over, and over again, dressed up in all kinds of amazing cosutmes, crawled through tunnels, it was wild (25 kids or so), it was energetic, and they were having such a riot that any grown up in the vicinity couldn’t help but to bask in their joy.

We celebrated midnight at 8:00, complete with noisemakers, balloons that dropped from the ceiling, a terrific rendition of New Years music on the piano by a guest, and most hilarious of all, I think, sparkling apple cider in little plastic champagne glasses. And NO ONE spilled!

On the walk home Mr. Sneaky Pants and Sarah blew their noisemakers as loud as possible to ring in the new year for the unsuspecting neighbors. They hopped into bed and slept late this morning.
