Making Arrows

Unlike his little brother, the super cautious kid who doesn’t like to do anything even remotely dangerous, THIS boy loves risky things, and even better, sharp tools.  Dr. Peds gave him an ax and a saw (shaped like a gun!) and told him he could tear apart some branches and make some sticks for his bow.  He spent hours in a corner of the yard with a fingerless glove, some scotch tape and the sharp tools crafting a collection for his quiver.  There was a search for the straightest sticks, and careful notching to make the sticks sit just right on the string of his bow.  There was intense concentration.  The arrows were fervently tested.  I’m happy to report my boy still has all ten of his fingers, and to my knowledge, no bandaids needed to be used in the process.

My boy is back, love the hair cut. He really does like to live on the dangerous side doesn’t he. I can remember loving to use the saw also, only I was always constructing furniture for my doll house. Hope you all had a good weekend.
