November: At the Beach

Apparently not a lot of people play on the sandy beach in November.  For our family, though, 50 degrees definitely constitutes beach weather!  After school on Monday the kidlets and I zipped down to the sandy beach, only to find it completely deserted!  Not a soul in sight!  I wasn't complaining.  We had a great time with miles and miles of sand to ourselves!

It WAS a little chilly for the kidlets to go swimming.  Even the kidlets admiteed it. However,  we had a fantastic time building sand castles.

Ya Ya's castle was a large mound of sand with a veranda on the front and a secret tunnel underneath.

Mr. Sneaky Pants built a spikey castle, a fine dwelling place for friendly knights who wear spikey armor.

The Banana was intrigued with the idea of using driftwood in her castle, but built it completely differently than Mr. SP.  She drew a circle in the sand and then used the driftwood to make a fence all around the perimeter, and then filled in the middle with a heap of sand.  It turned out really neat.
