PreMeal Chaos

In honor of my leaving for a terrific chamber choir rehearsal tonight, Dr. Peds decided to make spaghetti pie, something I had been holding him off of making for the entire almost 9 years of our marriage (it involves a lot of mixed up red sauce . . . not really my style of edible food). Previous experience has taught us both that we just don’t get along well in the kitchen, and quite frankly there would be no way you’d find me meandering around the stove when smelly red sauce is involved. Instead I camped out on my stomach on the family room floor with my camera. Sometimes one child was in front of me, sometimes one child was on top of me, sometimes one child was pulling my hair, but to be sure, there was a lot of running, slipping, crying, whining, laughing, and the air was constantly puntuated by gleeful and not-so-gleeful screams.

The great thing was, after about fifteen minutes, I got up, put my camera on the shelf, and got to LEAVE! I didn’t have to eat the spaghetti pie (which everyone liked, of course), nor did I have to watch anyone else eat the messy spaghetti pie, nor did I have to clean up the spaghetti pie OR have to manage to calm everyone down to a dull roar during supper or for bedtime. Yay for chamber choir rehearsals! Not only are they intellectually stimulating and soothing, but they are a GREAT excuse to exit out the back door! (And Yay for capable husbands, too.)
