More Trains

My kids have always loved trains. Over the years I’ve acquired a lot of cheap wooden train track at garage sales and other thrifty venues. Since we’ve moved to Minnesota we have stored the train stuff in a basket under the activity table (a serious bargain in and of itself . . . I was drooling over the prospect of a Nilo activity table a few years ago when I came across the option to buy an incorrectly sized table for less than $50 on the Nilo website. I snatched one up and made my husband assemble it. We love it! I love the multipurpose aspect of it. Every morning we have a rotating toy that gets set up on the table and is played with for the day. (Sometimes we switch in the middle of the day, too.)

Anyway, because playing with trains has been such a popular activity lately, I had been drooling again over Nilo flexatrack . . . train track that can bend in all sorts of configurations to make interesting layouts on the table. Last week I closed my eyes and splurged, and when it was delivered on Monday we tore open the box and started building. Fun! It is really part of their Christmas present, but Christmas is too overwhelming, and I knew they would have a lot more fun playing with it now, so I couldn’t wait until late December.
