At the Cabin Part 4: Auntie Rachel Spoils her Niece

From time to time at the cabin Auntie Dot would be busy with one thing or another.  I practiced watching and  and waiting for just the perfect time, and then I’d pop up, offering to take care of my winsome little niece.  Seeing no other alternative, Auntie Dot would agree, and then I’d set off with the adorable toddler, following her around, allowing her to go anywhere and do anything she wanted to within reasonably safe parameters.  Katherine would get wet.  Then she’d walk in the sand.  And the dirt.  And roll around on the ground, play with the dog, and find wonderful sticky and gooey substances to touch and smear.

Eventually Auntie Dot would find us, pick up her extraordinarily messy, soaked to the bone daughter, and roll her eyes at me.

She’d head off to find some dry clothes for her tot, and the scenario would repeat.

I’m very good at getting kids messy in short order.
