This Last Week

This girl’s hair has grown longer still, the longest it has ever been.  While I was out of the house she and Dr. Peds surprised me by baking all 150 cookies that I needed to take to church for a dinner that our small group is helping serve at.  She’s become a genius at being organized.

This first grader started reading chapter books silently to herself, such a big and exciting step.  She’s made quite a few messes, but cleaned them up.

This rambunctious boy has been full of mischief whenever possible.  It drives everyone around him batty, but then he goes and does something really quirky and funny and I just have to let it go!

And this sweet pea has come fully into the stage of three year old temper tantrums:  so many this week, and intense!  Transitions have not been his friend.  Neither were all the wonderful things at Barnes and Nobles that he couldn’t bring back home with him.  Luckily, at this stage in my parenting experience I at least know that the three year old temper tantrum phase disappears, (and temper tantrums aren’t the fault of bad parenting on my part)  which makes it easier to stay loving and patient in the face of meltdowns.  I’m thankful for that perspective, and for the fact that when this boy isn’t upset, he’s just a ball of fun.
