  • Our CSA fruit share ended last week, and I’ve enjoyed our small box of fruit each week all summer long so much that I’m definitely planning on ordering a share again next summer.  It was so much fun to pick up our “mystery” box each week, and the fruit was delicious.
  • I’ve been raving about Bayfield apples for years, but this year was the first year, somehow that I tried Bayfield apple cider.  A jug of cider appeared in our CSA box one week, and it was the most amazing beverage I’ve ever tasted.  Then, a few weeks ago I scored another gallon of Bayfield apple cider that was leftover after a school PTA dinner, and it was splendiferous as well.  It’s somehow sweeter and stronger, zippier and just better than any other apple drink I’ve ever had.   I shared a glass or two with the kidlets and then selfishly hid the rest for myself.  I’d have a glass every morning as a reward for getting out of bed far before the sun rose  to get kids off  to school.  Sometimes it’s the little things that motivate you to put your bare toes down on the cold floor.
  • One of Mr. Trouble on Feet’s favorite phrases lately is “Told ya, Mom.”  This totally cracks me up.
  • Another thing Mr. TOF tells me multiple times every day is “You my friend, Mama.”  This completely melts my heart every time he says it.
  • Lately I’ve been loving The Writers Almanac podcast.  I have enjoyed the Writers Almanac since way beck when I was teaching school before we ever had kidlets roaming around.  I listened to so much public radio while I was driving each day, and every morning on my drive to school the Writers Almanac broadcast would entertain me.  I looked forward to it so much.  Over the years I have not been able to listen to the radio as consistently, and although I’ve used the podcast version for years, when apple changed their podcast app I suddenly found myself accessing my subscription all the time.  Now I conveniently listen to The Writers Almanac when I’m working in the kitchen:  cooking or loading and unloading the dishwasher.  I love how I can save a bunch up for extended literary entertainment and not miss a thing.
  • A few nights ago Dr. Peds was testing out a powerful flashlight and shined the beam outside.  He looked up and there was a ginormous raccoon munching away at the very top of our crab apple tree.
