Christmas Scenes: Kicked Outside

After the kidlets opened presents on Christmas morning and played for a bit while we cleaned up the crazy wrapping paper commotion, I started doing a little cooking, and we kicked all the kidlets outside.  We didn’t try to do any offsite sledding this year because it would have been too hard, but that was just fine because we have so much snow, and the kidlets have built some amazing snow slides right in the yard that keep people busy for hours on end.  When I got to a good stopping place in my cooking preparations (scary, I know . . .  I’m not so much of a cook) I headed outside to see what people were up to.  There was a bit of drama, a bit of bickering, and a bit of stomping about on the part of several different people, but there was also a lot of glee.  Mr. TOF got snow in his mittens and had a meltdown until I found some hand warmers for him, and even then he wasn’t thrilled that morning even though he usually really enjoys going outside to play.  Mr. TOF is not much a of a thrill seeker and only cares to observe sledding, but the Russell kids love excitement!  Cousin Alex was everywhere, diving in and out of the snow headfirst. He buried his face  multiple times and lost his hat, but it didn’t slow him down for a second.

We left Mr. SP, YaYa and Cousin Alex to sled some more while Dot, KaKa, The Banana and Mr. TOF went with me on a little walk down the street and back.  There is so much snow in some of the yards that it feels like you are walking in a tunnel when you walk down the sidewalk  between the plow grade and yards that slope down to street level.  In some places the snow is almost as high as The Banana’s head!  KaKa looked pretty little on the sidewalk, and these pictures don’t even show the deepest parts.
