If It’s in Print . . .

Mr.  SP was frustrated with himself because he had forgotten his Friday folder.  In his classroom,  every Friday all the work that has been handed in  for the week comes home graded and we look at it together.  Looking at it together is not his favorite thing, but that particular week he wanted to show me an article written in his Scholastic Weekly News, an article  “that would change everything.”  He mentioned how the article was about a scientific study that had grown ups play video games and measured how this activity changed their brains over time.  He was terribly excited because “It’s not like you think, Mom!  Video games do not rot your brain!  They actually make your brain BIGGER!”

Lo and behold, the next Friday he did not forget his folder and the newspaper came home.  He came running into the kitchen, the colorful paper in hand.

“Look!  Mom! Here it is!  This is what I wanted you to read.   And it’s even an artificial article.”

I burst out laughing.  I may have even spit out some milk.

He was a bit confounded regarding my hysterics and  irritated that I was laughing so much I was not  reading the article.

“I think you meant official, not artificial,”  I finally managed to gasp out.
